Transfer to MCLA

We welcome students who choose to complete their bachelor's degree after attending a community college, as well as those who wish to transfer to MCLA from a four-year institution. MCLA enrolls close to 300 transfers annually. Admission is available for both fall and spring terms to over 80 programs of study.

Simple and Seamless

  • Transfer a maximum of 75 credits to MCLA
  • Credits accepted for all courses 100 level or higher with a C- or better

Applying for Transfer Admission

If you have completed 12 or more college-level credits at an accredited college or university, you should apply for admission as a transfer.

3. Get an Admission Decision!

Additional Documentation may be requested by your admission counselor. Admission for transfer students operates on a rolling admission basis for the fall semester. We encourage you to apply before March 1 for priority consideration for academic scholarships and financial aid. Applicants for the spring term should apply by December 1.

TRANSFER AGREEMENTS

As a student enrolled in a Massachusetts State community college, MCLA honors all levels of the MassTransfer program. Students who complete associate degrees under MassTransfer may be eligible for:

  • Guaranteed Admission (based on final transcript)
  • Full transfer of up to 75 credits
  • Will take in courses 100 level or higher with a D or Better
  • 100% tuition waiver (based on final GPA and completed pathway)
  • Waiver of core requirements

New York students can expect a personalized admission process designed to maximize credit transfers.

Program Requirements:

  • Earned Associates degree (A.A. or A.S.) from a public New York state institution
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Program Benefits

  • Maximizes transfer credits to provide students with a clear plan to complete a general education transfer block.
  • Automatic satisfaction of most core curriculum requirements for the potential of 60 transfer credits. (MCLA will require completion of a senior level capstone class and a Health and Wellness course.)
