The 4+1 program allows students to complete both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Education in an accelerated five-year sequence. It combines undergraduate coursework with graduate-level study while preparing students for licensure. Students will earn an Initial license at the undergraduate level (in addition to their degree) and then a second license in Moderate Disabilities (and MEd) at the grad level.

Coursework and field experiences are designed to prepare students for Massachusetts licensure requirements. Throughout the program, students build the knowledge and skills needed to meet MTEL expectations. While this preparation is aligned with Massachusetts standards, graduates go on to teach in a range of states, including New York and others, where licensure requirements may vary.

Yes. MCLA partners with Berkshire Community College (BCC) to offer a pathway to licensure for paraprofessionals currently working in Berkshire County schools. The program is designed to support continued employment while progressing toward licensure.

Yes. MCLA offers pathways that support educators working under an Emergency License. These programs help candidates transition toward Initial Licensure through structured coursework and practical experience.
